VISUS Coffee Table and Stool is a sitting unit set designed for exterior usage specifically in traditional Turkish coffee shops where Turkish coffee is served. Project started with reviewing and rethinking traditional Turkish handicrafts such as carpet weaving and ornamentation. The patterns have a huge importance and impact on the making of traditional Turkish arts and handicrafts . In traditional Turkish carpet weaving every pattern and symbol has its unique meaning and notion however they are lost in modernized lives. The project desired to bring the historical traditional «patterns» back to our daily lives in the form of products. In the design of the products, black iron and pine wood are used together to create a strong structure and a visual feeling like a pattern.Metal pieces build the main structure of the products and function as a skeleton, wooden parts are shaped around it. The thin black iron appears on the top surface of the furniture as thin fine lines.Thess thin lines create a three dimensional visual appearance on the surface. For the wooden parts, oak wood has been chosen for its soft texture to create a contrast with the strong qualities and appearance of metal.
